Pursuing Wholeness
This Thursday, May 6th, we will be meeting men and women separate … as we continue abiding together in Christ.
A community of people in the Heights, following Jesus by loving God, pursuing wholeness, caring for one another, and serving our neighbors.
This Thursday, May 6th, we will be meeting men and women separate … as we continue abiding together in Christ.
Taking hold of what we discussed last Thursday during our Community Dinner, let’s use this week to invite our neighbors to our homes, love others and to get to know others in our community better. Don’t be shy, invite others into your lives! We will get together the following Thursday (April 29th) to see how this week went, and to share plans of how our Heights group can become more like a community to one another!
This Thursday night, March 25th, we have the amazing opportunity of sharing an evening with some great teenagers from the Heights! As you know, we’ve been getting to know the teens participating in NYC Salt (www.nycsalt.org) for the last couple months, and they want to join us this Thursday night for dinner and fun!
We’re expecting maybe 10+ teenagers to show up, so we need some good grub (and lots of it). Some good potluck dishes might be: chicken, chips & salsa, vegetables, pasta, casserole, salads, dessert, etc.

Holy Week — that is, the week before Easter — is a very special time in the church year. We use this time to walk with Jesus through the last week before his death.
Maundy Thursday is the Thursday of Holy Week. Traditionally this evening centers on Jesus’ Passover meal with his disciples in the upper room, and specifically on the command (or mandate) he gives them here: Love each other as I have loved you. The word Maundy comes from the Latin word mandatum, which means mandate.
Our traditional liturgical Maundy Thursday service contains scripture, song, and optional foot-washing. Jesus said to his disciples on that night, after washing their feet as a servant would, “So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.” (John 13)

For this coming Thursday night, we invite you all to join us for a special “Passover Meal.” We will have a traditional “potluck” dinner and messianic program that will deepen our understanding of Jesus’ life and the history of God’s people.
We will begin the night at 6:30 pm at Seth & Kristen Whalen’s home. Please RSVP your attendance and confirmation that you will be bringing a dish by emailing wonki78@gmail.com.

As we continue our monthly rhythm of *Loving God, Pursuing Wholeness,
Building Community, and Serving Our Neighbors*, we wanted to invite you all
to a great opportunity *this Thursday night* to serve our neighbors. As many
of you know, we are building a relationship with teens that participate in
one of our church member’s (Alicia Hansen) non-profit program which serves
inner-city teenagers through photography and the creative arts (
http://www.nycsalt.org/).
Most of the teenagers hail from the Heights, and this Thursday we will be
joining them in a night of Salsa Dancing. Regardless of your dancing skills,
this is a great opportunity to learn from the kids, have fun and celebrate a
couple of the kids’ birthdays as well. One aspect we want to build into our
community is the idea of celebration. What better way to do that than to
dance! We will be meeting at the NYCSalt studio in midtown.
*Where*: 315 West 36th Street, Suite 1001
New York, NY 10018
*When*: Thursday, Feb. 25th, 6-8 pm
*What*: Salsa dancing, celebration, snacks
*Needs*: Dancing shoes, drinks (soda/juice), snacks (cookies, chips, etc.),
you!
Please email either Gary (gary[at]trinitygracechurch.com) or me (
wonki78[at]gmail.com) with an RSVP and confirmation that you will bring
refreshments. Birthdays are a BIG deal, so let’s bring some good dessert and
celebrate!
Lent this year begins on Wednesday February 17. Join us for the beginning of this important season in the church calendar at our Ash Wednesday service.
This traditional liturgical service will include scripture, song, meditation, communion and the imposition of ashes.
Wednesday February 17, 7pm at St Paul’s German Church in Chelsea, 22nd between 8th and 9th.
We hope everyone from the Heights can attend this. We will continue our Heights schedule next Thursday, Feb. 25th.
